High current enclosures to star at Electronica

Camden Electronics’ versatile modular DIN rail mounting enclosure range will be the centre of attention on the company’s stand at this year’s Electronica exhibition (14 to 17 November, New Munich Trade Fair Centre, Munich, Germany). High currents can now be handled using Camden’s CNMB enclosures in conjunction with suitable terminal blocks selected from the company’s wide range of products. Camden is also launching a new size 12 enclosure in response to numerous market requests for even greater versatility.
The CNMB series snapfit DIN rail enclosures sport a wide variety of features allowing users to produce housings to meet almost any conceivable requirement. In high current applications, for example, users can select components capable of handling up to 32A or 57A using CTB04 and CTB77 series terminal blocks respectively.
Unlike competitive products, Camden’s patented DIN rail mounting enclosures are fully UL94V0 flame retardant as they are moulded in polycarbonate instead of Noryl and other lower grade materials. Eight versions are now available offering lengths of 17.5, 36, 53, 71, 88, 106, 160 and 210mm all 90mm wide.
Offering greater versatility, Camden’s design features PCB guides to ensure boards are held in place firmly and moulded screw holes in the base to facilitate mounting of PCBs with heavier components such as relays or transformers. Up to three PCBs can be mounted horizontally while there are four mounting positions for vertical boards. An extension module adds two further horizontal positions.
In addition, the enclosure base is fully sealed with none of the holes that are found on competing products, avoiding the need for any insulating pads and reducing assembly costs for users. The design of the enclosure is such that all tabs on the body have been eliminated to avoid small lugs that might break off.
Standard colour is grey (RAL 7035) although Camden can also supply mouldings in black, green, red or blue for volume orders. In addition, ventilation slots and other features can be incorporated in the tooling for volume customers who wish to avoid the need for machining. Besides reducing costs for the end user this facility also results in a stronger moulding compared to a similar enclosure with machined ventilation slots.
Extended height modules and curved cover options add to the appeal of the highly acclaimed enclosures, adding further flexibility to the product line.
Additional special features include snapon terminal covers to IP20 finger protection with perforated screwdriver and wire entry holes and tabs as standard and spring loaded DIN rail clips that can be snapped open to allow chassis/surface mounting. Camden can also supply an optional adaptor for Grail mounting. Terminal covers, snapin panels and curved covers can also be provided to customer specifications for volume orders. Other optional special features include alternative black higher rated RTI material and EMC shielded metallic coated boxes.
Camden Electronics is exhibiting on stand 271 in Hall C4.
